Experience and Education

Retirement Planning Services, Inc. is led by Gerald A. Cannizzaro, president. Mr. Cannizzaro has more than 36 years of general investment experience, including over 24 years as a financial planner.
His investment experience includes:

• portfolio management for individuals and small companies
• preparation of comprehensive financial and retirement plans
• asset allocation and diversification strategies
• lifetime income projections
• mutual fund and individual stock analysis
• benefits analysis
• retirement planning

Mr. Cannizzaro also is an expert in the Federal Retirement System and Federal Benefits plans, and has assisted many Federal employees in preparing for retirement.

A Registered Investment Advisor for Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia, Mr. Cannizzaro holds an M.B.A. in Marketing and Finance from Columbia University Business School in New York, New York, and a B.S. in Psychology from Villanova University, Villanova, Pennsylvania.

Teaching

Mr. Cannizzaro is in high demand as an instructor. He conducts nearly 100 courses per year in retirement planning, personal finance, and mid-career planning. He has taught at the USDA Graduate School, the National Institute of Transition Planning, Northern Virginia Community College, and for Fairfax County Adult Education. He has been a guest lecturer at the University of Maryland (College Park) and Howard University in Washington, D.C.  The USDA nominated Mr. Cannizzaro for its Faculty Excellence Award in 2004.

In addition, Mr. Cannizzarro has taught numerous classes outside the Washington, D.C. area.
